This policy explains what personal information Computec Engineering Australia Pty Ltd collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what you can ask us to do about it.

Who we are

Computec Engineering Australia Pty Ltd ("Computec Australia", "we", "us") is an Australian technology reseller and the Australian arm of the Computec Engineering group. We can be reached at info@computecengineering.com.au.

We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). We apply these standards to everything we do, whether or not a given obligation applies to a business of our size.

What we collect

We collect only what we need to answer you and to supply what you have asked for.

When you contact us: your name, email address, phone number, the company you work for, and whatever you write in your message.
When you become a customer: business contact details for the people we deal with, delivery addresses, purchase order references, and the records of what we have quoted, supplied and invoiced.
When you visit this website: our hosting provider records standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you requested. This is used to keep the site running and secure.
Job applications: the details you choose to send us.

We do not collect sensitive information (health, race, political or religious views, and the like), and we do not ask for credit card details through this website.

Why we collect it

To answer your enquiry and prepare quotes
To supply, deliver, support and invoice what you order
To manage our relationship with you, including service reviews and renewals
To meet our legal, tax and record-keeping obligations

We do not sell personal information, and we do not send marketing to people who have not asked for it. If we ever do send anything promotional, every message will carry an unsubscribe link that works.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only where it is needed to do the job, and only as much as is needed:

Suppliers and distributors, where a delivery address or a site contact is required to fulfil your order
Computec Engineering group companies in Asia, where your order is supplied or supported in another country
Service providers who run our systems — website hosting, email, our order and quoting system, and accounting software
Professional advisers and authorities, where we are required or permitted by law

Information sent overseas

Some of the services we use store data outside Australia — website hosting, email and our business systems are provided by international companies, and orders fulfilled through the Computec group may be handled by our offices in Asia. Where we disclose personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with this policy.

Cookies and analytics

This website does not set advertising or tracking cookies. If we add website analytics in future, we will use a privacy-respecting service, update this page before switching it on, and say so here.

Keeping it safe, and how long we keep it

Access to our systems is restricted to the people who need it, protected by individual logins, and our customer portal shows each customer only their own records. No system is perfect, but we take reasonable steps to protect information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access.

We keep business records for as long as we need them and for as long as the law requires — for tax and company records, generally seven years. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or de-identify it.

Your choices

You can ask us to:

Tell you what personal information we hold about you
Correct anything that is wrong or out of date
Delete information we no longer need to keep
Stop contacting you

Email info@computecengineering.com.au and we will respond within a reasonable time, normally within 30 days. There is no charge for asking.

Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, tell us first at info@computecengineering.com.au. We will look into it and write back to you.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

We update this page when what we do changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
